Horizon Environmental responded in March of 2014 to a large vessel to barge collision on the Houston Ship Channel near Galveston, Texas that reportedly spilled more than 168,000 gallons. As a member of the response team, Horizon contributed to the containment and cleanup of the surrounding beaches by providing beach cleanup crews, vessel crews on our barge and response boats utilized for booming operations, transportation and waste hauling services, as well as participation in SCAT activities along impacted beaches. During the cleanup efforts, our workers participated and provided vessels for the Texas Regulatory stake holders, based out of Port O’ Connor, Texas, to assist them in tracking the oil contamination on a number of barrier islands that were impacted.
