Horizon Environmental representatives recently participated in the 2016 SCAA Conference and Tradeshow in Washington D.C.  The Spill Control Association of America has evolved into the industry association that is the “voice of oil spill response professionals” across the United States.  As a member of SCAA, Horizon Environmental representatives participated in the Capital Hill Visit Day in which groups from member states lobbied their corresponding Senators on the issue of Responder Immunity legislation for our industry.  Our group had the privilege of visiting Senator Ted Cruz’s office during which time we met with his aides and discussed the issues at hand.

The conference itself brought together emergency response contractors from all over the nation, operating companies, as well as federal agencies with onshore and offshore jurisdiction for environmental events.  Throughout the conference the audience was educated by an array of speakers on topics such as spills of national significance, DOT hours of service for CDL drivers, wildlife response, cyber security and worker safety.  For further information on the Spill Control Association of America (SCAA) please visit their website at www.scaa-spill.org.
